Delivered by global psychotherapy experts – Dr. César A. Alfonso (USA), Dr. Erin Crocker (USA), Dr. David Teo Choon Liang (Singapore) and Assoc. Prof. Rasmon Kalayasiri (Thailand) – WPA’s “Principles of Supportive Psychotherapy” Course will review the common factors of psychotherapy that are curative and clinically relevant. Designed for early to mid-career general psychiatrists as well as psychiatry trainees, it aims to increase knowledge and competence in the delivery of supportive psychotherapy and the basic aspects of psychodynamic psychotherapy. Faculty members explore principles and practical applications of supportive psychotherapy and intensive psychotherapy, when relevant, in general psychiatric practice settings such as inpatient, outpatient, emergency room, general hospital, and addiction psychiatry settings. Particular attention will be given to cultural adaptations and optimizing services in high volume clinical settings.
