Introduction
In mental health care, incorporating into daily practice the vision of inclusion, empowerment and non-stigmatization, nor discrimination towards people who are treated due to their mental health conditions enhances their recovery and development as citizens in their lives. In mental health services, human rights are present at every step of the process; empathy, good communication, accurate information, and respect for the dignity of those who need help, is implicit in good mental health care. But Human Rights still are violated and must be intensified, promoted and guaranteed.
In this webinar we approach this important topic in a practical way from different perspectives, first hand: a person with lived experience, a family member and a psychiatrist.
Part of the World Psychiatric Association Webinar Series, the ‘There is no mental health care without human rights’ webinar took place on Tuesday 23rd May at 10am GMT.
This webinar was organised by Guadalupe Morales Cano, Journalist and Director of Fundación Mundo Bipolar (Spain), Commissioner of Lancet Commission on Stigma and Discrimination in Mental Health and Representative of persons with lived experience at the Spanish Mental Health Strategy.
